Good Bye Lewis Boys

Most days the boys come home telling me about what they've learned or done with Tommy and Sterling Lewis.

They trade Pokemon cards. They've had dinner dates. They just all around enjoy each others company.
The boys are very disappointed that their friends are moving to Massachusetts. So we had one last fabulous afternoon at the playground. No pics of Sterling though.

 Thanks for the fun times!

Weekend in Vegas

My 15 year high school reunion was this last weekend. I decided to make a Girl's Weekend of it and hang out with my friend, Tiff. We've known each since the 5th grade. It was wonderful to be able to spend some time with her.

Tiff had a gift certificate to Hash House A Go Go. I've never heard of it before, but I'm all for trying new things.

We started out with an appetizer of Beef Tenderloin and Polenta Cakes. The tenderloin was melt in your mouth delicious and tender. The polenta was so cheesy. Mmmm!

When I saw that they had fried chicken with waffles, I had to have it. I knew Jake would be jealous. He has been wanting this dish ever since Alton Brown mentioned it.  And it wasn't just an plain old fried chicken and waffles, but Andy's Sage Fried Chicken & Bacon Waffle Tower drizzled with hot maple reduction & fried leeks. My only complaint, I didn't get enough syrup. The waffles, although savory and delicious with little bits of bacon throughout, were just too dry without it.

We finished off our dining extravaganza with a Cookie Mocha Cheese Cake. Yum!! I made sure to take pictures, because this was one of those places that are all about presentation.

We stopped at Target so Tiff could register for her upcoming wedding. She and her hubbie to be each have their own household, so there is not much that they will need. So she registered for non traditional items that she knows she will need or just wants.

On Saturday, we went to Shoe Carnival to check out the shoes that Tiff will wear with her wedding dress, then headed over to Sweet Tomato for lunch. It was fun to just hang out and go places without any little ones making demands.

In the evening, we headed out to McMullan's Irish Pub for our high school reunion. It was interesting to how many of us have changed since our time in high school and how some things just never change.

After a while the smell of alcohol became a little overwhelming, so we ditched with joint with the ladies (Maria & Nanette) in the top right corner and headed out to 24 hour breakfast place. It's the Mormon thing to do!

It was so much fun to catch up with everyone this weekend. All in all a great time!!

15 years

Years ago. . . I attended Clark High School in Las Vegas, NV.

In the last 15 years . . .

I went to Brigham Young University. My initial major was Zoology (pre-med), but after my freshman year, I switched to Anthropology narrowed it to Sociocultural Anthropology then finally settled on Sociology.

From July 1997 to February 1999, I served a mission in Puerto Rico, La Isla del Encanto, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (The Mormons). What an amazing experience! Wonderful people, beautiful scenery, and delicious food. Aye! Que Rica!

I went back to the Y to finish my last term. I met Jake, got engaged, then graduated in August of 1999 with a BS in Sociology. I moved to Orem, UT and quickly found a job in the related field of social work at Heritage schools, a residential treatment center for at risk adolescents. I quickly discovered that working with youth was not for me and found employment at Wasatch Mental Health, as a case manager for the homeless mentally ill.

Jake and I were married in the Las Vegas Temple in August of 2000, and we moved to south Provo. I continued to work at Wasatch Mental Health, while Jake attended the Y, majoring in Computer Science, In August of 2002, a few months after Jake's graduation, we welcomed Kaikolani into our family. Then Coby James joined us in June 2004. Soon after his birth I left Wasatch Mental Health, and Jake got a job with AMDG doing contract work with the Union Pacific.

Since then I've been a full time mom. We moved to Pleasant Grove, after Jake got a job with Neumont University in 2005. We've been here ever since except for a term in Virginia. The University asked Jake to assist in opening a campus in Sterling Virginia, and we went along for the ride. The cross country trip there was wonderful! BEST. FAMILY. TRIP. EVER.
D.C. was awesome! Wish we had had more time

In March of 2008, children outnumbered the adults in our home with the addition of William aka Liam. And now we're up to speed.

Breakfast and Bowling

Since our hubbies had the day off for the 4th of July, we decided to have a Girl's Morning Out. We met up at Magleby's Fresh for their scrumptious waffles, divine syrup and fresh strawberries & whipped cream. Well,  at least that's what I got.

Then we went to Fat Cats to bowl. We had a blast. Sarah took some awesome photos of us. We even posed for a few. I recorded us bowling, but I'll spare you.

Kids Craft Class - the 4th

This week they went to Miss Alisha's house for craft class.
She went all out with this cool Uncle Sam wind sock, which Kai preferred to use as a hat.

Another pic from California

Why do they need a life-saving cemetery?
Check out the pic at the Fail Blog!
(if everybody votes for my fail, it will show up on the main page of the website!)

Silly Boys

Kai to Coby: Stop monologue-ing. You don't get to rule the world.

Liam is an obedient baby (with some exceptions regarding climbing). He was toting around some books, he dropped one then went on his merry way. Jake asked him "Liam, will you pick up the book?" Liam went back and picked it up, then put it away.

Coby: I don't like church. I don't want to get baptized. Can you please cancel my 8th birthday?
Me: Why don't you want to get baptized?
Coby: Because it's boring. You just walk around. You go to different houses.
Me: What?
As I shared this with Jake, he explained that Coby doesn't want to go on a mission because he wants to stay with me and for the above reasons. Oh!

Kai's Top 5 Reasons he likes Sunflower Market

  1. There are donuts.
  2. There are samples.
  3. Getting a cart and putting a basket in it and putting stuff in it to help mommy.
  4. I love it when Mommy lets us get something that is not on the list.
  5. I love all of the food there that we get.
